Brian Rowland makes Bid for Precinct 3 Waller County Commissioner
Prairie View, Texas (January 5, 2012)-- 1st District Prairie View Councilman Brian Rowland (Democrat) was joined today by community residents, public officials, and leaders as he made his formal announcement on his candidacy for the 2012 Waller County Commissioner Election for Precinct 3.
“This community offers tremendous opportunity for sustainable economic development. I will continue to advocate for expanding job opportunities and safer and healthier neighborhoods. Our County has the potential to become even better and we need leaders who will work to actively engage residents in the decisions that impacts their everyday lives. I have worked hard as a Councilman in Prairie View and will continue to bring the voice of the people to Waller County Government,” said Councilman Rowland.
Councilman Rowland has worked on many issues; in 2004 he was an instrumental force in the successful restoration of the Prairie View A&M University student’s essential right to vote. He’s worked to ensure fair voter representation in election district boundaries through the federal court case in 2010. Recently he supported a resolution in opposition to the creation of a landfill in Waller County.
“I have worked along side Councilman Rowland over the last several years; his compassion for our community and commitment to our residents is truly remarkable. I believe that he has the vision. His willingness to lead by example will help move Waller County into a brighter and stronger future,” said Prairie View Councilman Simeon Queen.
