Brian Rowland to speak at Men’s Prayer Breakfast at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church

Brian E. Rowland is the speaker for the Men’s Prayer Breakfast at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church on June 17, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall of the Church on 204 Dooley Street.

Rowland is an active and longtime resident of Prairie View and serves the citizens through numerous community affiliations to include Council Member, City of Prairie View, Prairie View Chamber of Commerce (1st Vice President); Boy Scouts Troop 1906 (Assistant Scoutmaster); Prairie View Volunteer Fire Department (Member); Texas State NAACP (Membership Chair) & Economic Development (Co-Chair); Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Epsilon Tau Lambda Chapter (former President).

Rowland was elected to the City Council in May 2017 and previously served two terms (2010-2104). While serving on the council Rowland was committed to Economic Development to create job opportunities with local businesses for our city’s residents; leveraging investment & resources with the Prairie View Economic Development Corporation, and securing new revenues and grants to help lower taxes.

In his new term, he plans to improve Public Safety through cleaning and beautifying the neighborhoods and addressing blighted properties; to ensure upgrades to city infrastructure- streets, water and sewer systems and to be an advocate for fairness with the criminal justice system. Rowland believes that access to City Hall should be expanded to improve transparency, access, and communication between city hall and residents; build collaborations with Prairie View A&M University students and the Community and expand voter rights in elections locally, statewide, and nationally.

Brian holds the Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Tarleton State University, a Bachelors of Business Administration, a Masters of Community Development(MCD), Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Prairie View A&M University, and a PhD in Educational Leadership at Prairie View A&M University. Brian is a Registered Representative with Voya Financial, LLC and also the president of Visionary Leadership.

Members of the community are also encouraged to come out and support the Houston FoodBank Mobile Unit which will be at the St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church on June 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church on 204 Dooley Street in Prairie View. There are no qualifications necessary, and persons may sign up for SNAP, Children’s Medicaid/CHIP and TANF programs. Patrons must be present and signed to receive the food.
