Mr. Yokom holds a Bachelor degree in Political Science and a Certificate of Study in Criminal Justice from North Carolina State University a MBA from Texas A&M University. He is a businessman personified having served as President of Instrux (computer training and instructional design) Garage Door Services of Houston and the Waller Chamber of Commerce. Under his leadership, the county has amassed more than 1.14 billion in accumulated taxable value for Waller County.
After his appointment to the Waller County Economic Development Partnership in 2003, he has helped land over 3000 jobs to the Waller County area. Some of his high profile projects include the recent Amazon distribution facility, Goya Foods, Weatherford Industries and Houston Executive Airport to expand with 72 million in aircraft. To date, the estimated tax revenue to the county is just over 8 million dollars.
Yokom holds membership in several organizations to include the Greater Houston Partnership, Prairie View A & M University College of Business Advisory Board, and the HGAC Gulf Coast Economic Development Committee. Mr. Yokom has been married for 31 years and has three daughters and six grandchildren.
Members of the community are also encouraged to come out and support the Houston FoodBank Mobile Unit which will be at the St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church on November 13, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church on 204 Dooley Street in Prairie View. There are no qualifications necessary, and persons may sign up for SNAP, Children’s Medicaid/CHIP and TANF programs. Patrons must be present and signed to receive the food.
