This weekend will mark a milestone in the life of Pastor, Dr. Clarence Talley, Sr. and First Lady Carolyn and members of the Mount Corinth Missionary Baptist Church, of “Heavenly” Hempstead, Texas as they celebrate the Fifth Anniversary their services in a joyous occasion on Sunday, September 9th at 2:30 p.m. on 806 7th Street in Hempstead.

The Anniversary theme is "What's In It For Me?" It is a question that many have pondered. Talley stated that he hoped that it will provoke thought, encourage action and most of all inspire undying faithfulness to God. The inspiration for the theme is rooted in the writings of the apostle Paul Second Timothy 4:8. "Though I am partial to the King James Version, the biblical text is from the New Living Translation: "And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing," Talley concluded.

The Anniversary speaker will be Rev. Fred Thomas, III, the Pastor of the Greater St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church of Hempstead. A seasoned pastor, Rev. Thomas is a product of the Heavenly Hempstead community.

At the 11:00 hour, we will have a dynamic message by the Rev. Fredrick Ragston, the Assistant Pastor at the Greater St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church of Hempstead. Rev. Ragston and wife Abigale are dedicated servants to the St. Peter’s family and Rev. Ragston is a retiree from the Hempstead ISD.

Dr. Talley, the celebrated pastor, completes his fifth year as pastor: five years of preaching, teaching, and equipping The Mount for ministry. He is also a tenured Professor and Director of Art at Prairie View A&M University, and he has authored several books. Pastor Talley’s most recent book titled, “Seven Things God Hates: A Biblical Perspective on Righteous Hate” is now available on bookstore.westbowpress.com and on amazon.com .

First Lady Carolyn is a retired schoolteacher after 33 years in the Hempstead ISD. She works with the children’s ministries and the women’s ministry in addition to gracefully representing The Mount.

Mrs. Norma Tompkins is the Chairwoman of the Anniversary Committee and the entire congregation look forward to seeing you in “Heavenly” Hempstead at the event on September 9 at 2:30 p.m.

The Mount is also gearing up for its 160TH Church Anniversary Banquet on October 20 at 5:00 P.M. in the Willie Tempton Memorial Student Center Ballroom at Prairie View A&M University. For more information contact Mrs. Gwendolyn Carter at 936.857.3522 or Ms. Zina Lang at 979.826.6356.
