Charleston plans to turn the Labor Day HBCU classic BLUE for prostate cancer

The Dewayne Charleston Foundation is partnering with two HBCUs, Prairie View A&M University and Texas Southern University to turn the forceful Labor Day Classic BLUE for prostate cancer in the annual gridiron matchup on August 31, 2024.

The two in-state cross-town rivals will don light blue apparel and accessories to bring attention to the disparities that exist in prostate cancer for men of color. Charleston is a 15-year survivor of stage IV prostate cancer. In his passionate plea, Charleston lamented, "I am blessed to be here and ask for your support of this initiative that will save the lives of many men who are at high risk of getting prostate cancer."

To make this event a success, Charleston has established a GoFund Me Account to raise an estimate of $60,000 to purchase the athletic wear for both teams. The foundation has received a $30,000 donation and must raise an additional $30,000.

This will be the first time that two college football teams have ever worn the light blue uniforms and accessories to highlight prostate cancer, a noble cause. This is history in the making and "I’d like to ask you to be a special part of it," Charleston stated.

The foundation and friends are asking you to please give what you can and thank you for your generous support.
