The 3rd time is the charm was significantly evident for Democratic Vice President Joe Biden who after 38 years and a three-time candidate for president won his quest to be 46th president of the United States of America. It was his birth-state of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that gave him the victory and put him over the 270 Electoral College votes he needed to win his bitter battle with incumbent President Donald Trump. With that victory he also became the first person to win the greatest number of votes totaling 75,199,800 votes and 290 Electoral College Votes.
History was also made with the election of Senator Kamala Harris as the 49th Vice President, the first woman, the first Black and South Asian woman to the position. Harris' selection for the vice presidency by Biden was received with speculation and forgiveness at the same time, considering her response to him during the primary debates. But like a good scout, Joe put all that behind him because he knew she had character, integrity, was qualified and would make a good team player.
Biden secured what the AP and others determined was an insurmountable lead in the Keystone State on Saturday morning after more than four days of ballot counting across the country. He also touted the fact that he’s won more votes than any presidential
ticket in history, calling his win “a convincing victory, a victory for
the people.” “I was surprised by seeing the celebrations
and an outpouring of joy in the wake of his win nationwide."
President-elect Biden addressed a deeply divided nation on Saturday night, turning to the challenges ahead by grounding his victory speech in the spirit of compromise, asking supporters of President Donald Trump to give him a chance, and calling on all Americans to turn the page from what he described as a "grim era of demonization."
Biden made that plea for unity and understanding in his home town of Wilmington, Delaware, at an extraordinary moment in American history when the current president showed no indication that he plans to concede to his rival and continued to push the fiction on Twitter that he had won the election, while making baseless accusations about how the election was stolen from him.
It is expected that the Biden-Harris will restore some civility and dignity for a unified country and regain the respect from the allies around the world. Part of that restoration would be the aggressive attention to eradicate the pandemic with the introduction of the vaccine and stave off the positive infections and and save lives.
Also, with the dignity and respect of all the citizens, President Biden would welcome the Championship Teams that refused to visit the White House during the former administration. It certainly will be a great day for Vice President Harris to welcome the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Dodgers to the White House for their recognition.
