Kendric Jones is youngest elected Waller County Commissioner Precinct 3

Kendric Jones was elected to serve as the Precinct 3 Waller County Commissioner in November 2020. Prior to his election to the Commissioner’s Court, he served as a councilman for the city of Prairie View. Kendric will be sworn in the position on January 1, 2021 along with the other elected officials.

Kendric was born and raised in the inner city of Houston, Texas, by a single mother. He is a proud graduate of Lamar High School and a dedicated alumnus of Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics.

During his first semester at the university and his engagement in various activities at the university and the city, he realised that his heart belonged in Waller County and has called Waller County home since 2013 and has been a proud, involved, and dedicated servant of his friends and neighbors ever since.During his tenure, he served as Student Body President and as City Councilman for Prairie View, Texas. Kendric believes in sacrifice and hard work and does his best to share this information and to help others to pave a better life for their families because he experienced it firsthand.

While a student at PVAMU, Kendric exhibited a powerful voice on campus and spoke out on key issues such as student housing, public safety, and community morale. Kendric was elected to Prairie View City Council in 2017. He continued to work in a legislative research capacity while also serving on the City Council for 3 years. He remained committed to the City of Prairie View and was re-elected to a second two-year term in 2019. Kendric is a fierce champion of progress and transparency in Waller County where he serves as County Commissioner for Precinct 3. He is the youngest County Commissioner ever to be elected in Texas. Kendric is true to the preamable of the United States Constitution to wit: Of the people, By the people, and For the people and uses this as his base in the role of an elected official to govern the people. Kendric's service to his community is his calling in life and top priority for the enhancing the quality of life for the community. He is a diligent worker and effective problem solver. He takes the time to attend and participate in all activities of the precinct so that he can hear from the constituents to address their concerns and issues because changes are necessary for the growth of the community.

Throughout his stellar public service career, Kendric’s advocacy has helped ensure students, middleclass families, and seniors enjoy the best quality of life possible. Kendric's other civic engagements include volunteering with the Houston FoodBank Distribution at St. Francis of Assissi Episcopal Church, Southeast Texas Housing Association, Houston Livestock & Rodeo, and membership in the Collegiate 100 at PVMAU, Epsilon Tau Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and the College of Agriculture Advisory Board at PVAMU to name a few. In 2020, Kendric co-authored a book with his beautiful mom titled, “Quotes, Phrases, and Sayings That Speak to The: MIND, BODY & SOUL.” Kendric stated that the goal of the book is to 'speak purpose into the reader and encouraging growth in all phases of life that make us whole as a people.'

Commissioner Jones spends his free time cheering on his two favorite college teams, Prairie View A&M Panthers and Texas A&M Aggies. Golfing also makes up a part of his leisure activities.

Kendric future plans is to pursue a Master's Degree in Agriculture Business Administration at Texas A&M University and later work with the US Department of Agriculture formulating policy assist farmers and families.
