The featured speaker is Jaquavous Doucette, newly elected Councilman for the City of Prairie, sworn in on May 11, 2026.
Council Doucette is a May graduate of Prairie View A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. Doucette was a dedicated student leader at Prairie View A&M University who served simultaneously as President of the Student Government Association (SGA) and Student Regent for The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents.
As the SGA President he led efforts focused on advocacy, communication, and for the students and community engagement. In September 2025, Governor Greg Abbott appointed him to serve as Student Regent for The Texas A&M University System, a statewide role where he represents more than 150,000 students and helps guide policy and accountability.
Doucette holds membership in several campus organizations, including the Collegiate 100, the NAACP, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Doucette campaigned on four key priorities: restoring trust in local government, strengthening the partnership between the city and the university, improving infrastructure and basic city services, and ensuring responsible growth and development. He is looking forward to the challenges, opportunities, and responsibilities that come with the position.
