Alpha Phi Alpha and City of Prairie View to host MLK Day March

Members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Epsilon Tau Lambda (Prairie View) and Eta Gamma Chapters (Prairie View A&M University), along with the City of Prairie View is set to hold the first Martin Luther King, Jr. March in the city on January 15, 2024 to commemorate what would have been the 95th birthday of Dr. King.

The march will begin at 10:00 a.m. from the George E. Higgs PVNAA Alumni Building on University Drive onto 290 Business Highway East toward City Hall. Once there the program will feature Mr. Frank D. Jackson, former Waller County Commissioner and Mayor of the City of Prairie View. Other participants are Ms. Lakethia Conner, Interim City Manager, City of Prairie View, Justin Lewis, Youth Speaker, Prairie View Top Teens of America, Gabrielle Orji, President Student Government Association at Praiire View A&M University and Boys Scout Troop 1906 will post the colors.

The public is invited to attend and participate.

The program is chaired by Nathan Alexander, III, former Prairie View City Council Member and member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Epsilon Tau Lambda Chapter.

Mr. Mark Spivey is president of the Epsilon Tau Lambda Chapter and Mr. Joe Darden is president of the Eta Gamma Chapter, and Mr. Ronald Leverett is the Mayor of the City of Prairie View.
